Laurie
gives a shout out to the awesome kids from Phil Bildner's class
in New York City.I had the best afternoon ever with you guys.
Thanks for inviting me and good luck next year!

Hello
to everyone I met at the American Library Association's annual
convention in San Francisco. It was fun to see so many old friends
and make new ones.

Another
shout out to the students of Taree McGee's freshman English
class in Columbia, IL. I just got your letters and I loved them
all. Have a great summer! (Don't forget to read a book or two
- not just the required stuff; something you really like!)T

Thank
you Authors on the Web! As part of an outstanding feature about Stephen King's new book, On Writing, (guess what it's
about),
Laurie was interviewed. Read
all about it!
What
a day! Laurie was invited to join some amazing readers from
Feltonville Elementary School, Philadelphia Mayor John Street,
James Earl Jones, and representatives from Bell Atlantic to
kick off a new literacy program for the children of Philadelphia.
Thanks to the generosity of Bell Atlantic, each of the students
received their own copy of Ndito Runs, Laurie's first picture
book. The highlight of the morning was listening to Mr. Jones
read the book aloud to the children. What a voice! Ndito's story
has never sounded so good.
